The past few days have been exciting. First of all, I found out that my picture book, D is for Drinking Gourd: An African American Alphabet Book, was selected for the 2008 IRA Teachers’ Choices List! To find out more about my book, you can read the posts on my Virtual Book Tour by clicking the tab at the top of my blog.
I also viewed cover art for two new releases of my books, so that was very exciting, too!
WriteShop Primary is an incremental writing program geared for the homeschooling family. It teaches writing to children in Kindergarten through Second Grade. It’s scheduled to be released in June, 2008.
Readers Theatre for African American History features a collection of twenty scripts covering a comprehensive span of history from Africa before the transatlantic slave trade through current events in our nation. My husband, Jeff, a Fourth Grade elementary teacher, and I co-wrote it together. It’s due to be released in June, 2008, as well.
And finally, these past few days, members of my critique group and I have been getting ready to launch our brand new blog! It will be for writers, for critique groups, and more. It features insight on the industry, timely tips, editor’s wish lists, along with a little bit of instruction and whole lots of inspiration. Stop on by at Wordsmiths and say hi! Post a comment and help us celebrate our new beginning.

Congratulations, Nancy, on ALL your accomplisments!! You continue to AMAZE me! You are so hard-working and tenacious, and it certainly pays off. I couldn’t be happier for you! So glad we have our Wordsmiths group, and maybe some of your enthusiam and “good vibes” will rub off on the rest of us!

How fun to start seeing the cover of WriteShop Primary popping up in new places, Nancy. Book A is taking its first journey to a homeschool convention in Santa Clara this weekend (as a spiral-bound mockup) so we can begin spreading the word about this great program!
And congrats on the D is for Drinking Gourd honor. Well done!
