It’s a crazy time right now. Crazy economy. Crazy world. Crazy everything.
It’s easy to look back on 2008 and not feel brave enough to continue on as a writer in 2009. Too many rejections. Too many revisions. Too few warm fuzzies to encourage your writer’s heart.
That’s one of the reasons that during the month of January, here on my blog I want to help you shape your goals and your writing for 2009. I want to help you look ahead with a fresh new outlook as a writer. I want to help you jumpstart your career so you can actually start getting published on a regular basis. I want to help you learn how to start earning income as a writer so that you can establish a career.
Sure, I’ll have other things on my blog during January. Important things! For instance, I’m launching a 50 Nifty States Virtual Book Tour in January with the goal of have 50 teachers in 50 states celebrating African American history from sea to shining sea. You’re invited to join in the fun! And if you know a teacher who would like to join the tour, tell them to stop by my blog and click on the tab at the top for the 50 Nifty States Tour to find out how.
But most of all, my blog during the month of January will be about taking practical steps as a writer so that you can be published on a regular basis, earn a steady and substantial income, and have fun writing. Aren’t those the main reasons you’re a writer in the first place?
So don’t despair if 2008 didn’t see much progress for you as a writer. Start looking ahead to 2009. Plan to stop in on my blog throughout the month of January. My personal goal is to help you feel validated that you’re a writer–because you are! And one of the best ways for a writer to feel validated is by being published and earning an income for what you write. I’ll show you how.

I am so there! 2008 was not a great writing year for me. I’ll be checking in regularly. Thanks for the encouragement.
