Featured Book: Beyond Me: Living a You-First Life in a Me-First World

Tired of the self-help sermons and the “me-first” spirituality? Author/speaker Kathi Macias knows the pain of spiritual hunger and the emptiness of living a me-first life. In her latest book, Beyond Me, Macias encourages and equips individuals to walk the walk, move beyond societal boundaries, and follow the steps of Christ.

Today I’m so excited to host Kathi on my blog as a “stop” on her Virtual Book Tour! Welcome to all of her treasured readers and friends. May you all be blessed as Kathi shares from her heart what writing this book meant to her and how she prays it will bless you, too.

Q: Describe a highlight for you personally while you were writing this book.
A: Though it was a terribly frightening and stressful experience, our second son, Michael, was in a motorcycle accident and it was unclear if he would live and/or walk again if he did. Thankfully, he made a complete recovery, but the incident brought into play everything I’d written in Beyond Me, and forced me to ask myself if I believed it in theory only—or in the life-or-death situation of a loved one.

Q: How do you hope to influence today’s generation through this book?
A: More than anything I hope/pray they will break free of the restraints of a narcissistic society that inundates us with the message that “it’s all about me.” I want to see them move beyond that small thinking to unlimited but noble areas of growth and service.

Q: What inspires you most as a writer?
A: My greatest source of inspiration is believing that God has both called and equipped me to do exactly what I’m doing—to see people’s lives changed as a result of the message God gives me to pass on to those who have “ears to hear.”

Q: Share one tip you would like to give to a writer trying to break into the Christian market.
A: First, be absolutely sure that it is God calling you to it, as it is not an easy road. When you are certain that it is what God wants you to do, then learn how to do it the very best you can—and never give up.

  1. What a wonderful interview. Kathi, I know how you really do live what you write and this interview shows it! Hugs, Tamela
