Marketing Tip #8: Merchandise

If you’ve just started reading my blog, thanks for stopping in! This summer I’m celebrating the release of my newest book, Yes! You Can Learn How to Write Children’s Books, Get Them Published, and Build a Successful Writing Career. Here on my blog this summer, I’m sharing actual marketing tips that I’m doing to help promote my new book. You can try these marketing strategies, too!

One of the things that I discussed with my publisher was the idea of creating products to promote my book. I had recently learned about CafePress.com, a wonderful new online store that lets you create your very own line of products. My publisher and I decided to create a store for products for children’s writers, based on my book’s front cover design and the title concept of Yes! You Can!

If you’re a children’s writer, I invite you to visit my online store and check out the awesome line of motivational products to use to feel encouraged as a writer and also to let other people know that you’re actually, factually a children’s writer. You can choose from T-shirts, tote bags, journals, and hats. There’s even an “Editor’s Hat” for wearing when you need to edit your manuscript! And a license plate to put on your car!

If you have a new book coming out, talk with your publisher about setting up a store at CafePress and designing merchandise to help promote it. It’s free! And it’s lots of fun, fun, fun!
