Marketing Tip #11: Signatures

One of the easiest way to market your new book is to create a signature for your e-mails that automatically promotes your book every single time you send an e-mail.

Most e-mails have a feature that allows you to attach an automatic signature at the bottom of every e-mail you send. Explore your e-mail options to discover how you can add a signature to your e-mails to help market your book.

One of the things I’ve noticed, however, is that if the signature always remains the same, people tend to gloss over it and not read it. So right now, as I’m marketing my new book, I actually have created 3 distinct signatures, plus one that posts automatically. This way I can vary the signature I send in my e-mails if I want to.

Here’s how it works:
If I don’t have time or interest to vary my signature, I know it’s automatically going out with every e-mail. But on days I want to take an extra minute, I open up a file where I have listed several different signatures. As I send off each e-mail, I copy and paste the signature from my file that seems most appropriate for that e-mail. And if I e-mail the same person several times in a row and am carrying on a conversation, I copy and paste a slightly different signature each time to encourage them to actually read it and click on the links.

I know this technique works! How? Because I’ve found out that these same people have purchased my book or merchandise after receiving my e-mails with my signatures!

And the wonderful thing about a signature is that it doesn’t feel like it’s a big push on the person to buy my book. It’s just informational in tone, but it’s information that they want.

Here are 3 sample signatures I’ve been using to help market my new book, Yes! You Can.
