I was reading an article yesterday in a magazine that asked if I was finding that my holiday activities were leading away from time with family and heading toward over-stressed anxiety.

This really helped me put things back into perspective. I’ve been stressing about my long to-do list that I’m trying to get done before Christmas day. I’ve been fretting about deadlines big and small in the midst of family and friends…but not anymore.

Now, instead, I’m just selecting carefully from my “to-do list” those items I DO have time for instead of stressing about the ones I don’t. I’m setting lots of those items aside so I have more time to spend with family and friends. I’m trying to enjoy each moment rather than rush through it to arrive at the next.

So this holiday season, I encourage you to sing Christmas carols, bake Christmas cookies, play games, read favorite Christmas books, and take time to relax and visit with family and friends. And rejoice in the One who gives us good gifts each day.
