Which Genre?

Which genre are you writing in during this year’s Book in a Month Club?

Are you writing a nonfiction book for adults? That’s what I wrote the very first year. If so, you’re balancing research with writing.

Are you writing a novel, just like the people who write each year for the NaNo Club, the National Novel writing Club. If so, you’re cranking out those words every day!

Are you writing a book for teachers as I know one person is doing this year?

Are you writing a picture book like I am? If so, I highly recommend referring to Eve Heidi Bine-Stock’s fantastic line of books: How to Write a Picture Book, Volumes I, II, and III. I use these often as I write and it really, really helps.

Whichever genre you’re working with, I know the world will be a little bit richer when you’re done. A new book will be born.

Happy writing!

  1. Nonfiction picture book. I had to order two books to complete my research. They just arrived so now I am ready to read and write! That said, they are pretty deep and it may take a few days to get the reading done.

  2. Nonfiction for kids, one of my favorite genre! That’s so exciting your research books arrived. Have fun digging for treasure. -Nancy
