How to Enjoy a Conference

To help you get the most out of your next conference experience, here are some thoughts to keep in mind.

If you hope to make your voice be heard above the masses of other writers, you’ll probably go home disappointed.
But if you hope to listen to the voices of your fellow writers, you’ll go home feeling encouraged and revived as a writer.

If you hope to get the most for your bucks at this conference, you’ll probably be discontented or bothered.
But if you hope to GIVE more than you get at the conference, you’ll go home appreciating precious and unexpected surprise moments that you’ll treasure long after the conference is over.

If you hope to have someone famous at the conference read your manuscript, you’ll probably feel let down.
But if you hope to sharpen your self-editing skills to help your manuscript shine even more, your writer’s tool box will get stocked with valuable tools to take home and use.

A conference is an experience all its own. Learn to hope for finding ways to improve your writing, network with professionals in the industry, and connect with other writers in a precious way and you’ll enjoy it even more.

  1. Nancy, Your Mary Poppins’ bag is packed with wonderful things. I think I’ll take it along on my vacation, too.
