Book Party!

Hey, don’t you just love a fun party? I do, too, especially when it involves books! And celebrating. And for the next few days, we’ll be having a book party here in cyberspace where we’ll be talking books AND celebrating, so pop on in and join us!

This month, my book, America’s Black Founders is being celebrated at the National Writing for Children’s Center. Yesterday, my Internet radio interview was featured at Book Bites for Kids.

And today, my online interview is being featured at Irene Roth’s Writing Blog. Click on the link and stop on over and say “hi!”

But what’s a party without games and prizes and food? So here you goooo! We’re having games AND prizes AND food. (See below.) And thanks for celebrating with me.

Download this pdf of a word scramble puzzle to test your knowledge of America’s Black Founders. Answers can be found in my book!

Word Scramble

All month long, the National Writing for Children Center is hosting free give-aways, so stop on by and follow the prompts to get your name in the hat to win a prize and register for this week’s free book give-away!

Here’s one of my favorite recipes. Surprise your writer’s group or teacher’s sorority or fellow librarians and take it along next time you meet. Even your kids will love this tasty treat. Yum!

Spinach Artichoke Dip
1 box chopped frozen spinach
14-ounce can artichoke hearts
8 ounces Feta cheese
½ cup mayonnaise
½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
4 ounce jar diced pimentos, drained
Garlic powder

Cook spinach in box in microwave for 5 minutes. Chop artichoke hearts in chopper. Place all ingredients in mixing bowl and stir well together. Pour into glass or ceramic pie pan. Store covered in refrigerator until ready to use. Cook in microwave 3 minutes. Serve with whole wheat bread chunks, whole wheat pita chips, or tortilla chips.
