People often ask me if I have a favorite book of all the ones I’ve written. That’s always a tough one! My favorite is usually the one I’m working on. But over the years, I have several favorites and the one that always rises to the top is my book, D is for Drinking Gourd: An African American Alphabet.
I want every school, every library, every parent, every kid and every AMERICAN to read this book. Why? Because it tells the story of our nation and the people who helped build it. It’s a story not many have heard before, a story about inspirational heroes and amazing men and women.
To help spread the word about my book, this week here on my blog I’m hosting a Virtual Book Tour! That means that my book will be touring through cyberspace on other people’s blogs so their readers can learn more about it, too.
The first stop on my Virtual Book Tour is at Irene Roth’s blog, Inspiring Books and Products for Kids. Hop on over there and discover why I like to be a writer and how I got the idea for this book.
I also want to invite you to join a fun contest here on my blog. I’m offering a prize that every book lover will love: a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble! You can use this at your local store, for an online purchase, or on your Nook!
Just recommend my contest on Facebook today, then come right back here today to post a comment here on my blog to let me know you did this. You can post your own recommendation or copy and paste the following:
