Welcome to the last day of my Virtual Book Tour! All this past week, you’ve been helping me celebrate my picture book, D is for Drinking Gourd: An African American Alphabet, by helping me spread the word about this book so it can get into the hearts and hands of kids all across the nation.
For today’s stop on the tour, hop on over to visit Printed Words, a great blog for writers and all things books.
One of the joys about being a writer is you get to “go” places! That’s what I’m talking about on today’s tour. And in the photo above, you can see how my husband, Jeff, and I got to go out on the Pacific Ocean in a historic tall ship! It was an event of a lifetime. And why was it so extra special? Because in my book, D is for Drinking Gourd, I featured James Forten under F is for Founding Fathers. James Forten was a sailmaker who made sails and operated a sail-making shop to outfit tall ships from the founding years of our nation. I’d researched and read about tall ships ever since I researched and read about James Forten. So when Jeff and I were invited to go sailing on a tall ship this past fall, we jumped at the chance!
As you know, for my Virtual Book Tour this week, we’ve been celebrating my book, D is for Drinking Gourd: An African American Alphabet. Plus, the goal of this tour has been to help get the word out about my book.
To help spread the word, I’ve been hosting a contest here on my blog. I’m offering a great prize that fits on everyone’s wishlist: a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble! You can use this at your local store, for an online purchase, or on your Nook!
Today, here’s what to do. E-mail 5 or more people you know who have young kids to visit my blog and learn about my book. Then come right back here today to post a comment here on my blog to let me know you did this. You can send your own message or copy and paste the following:
Learn about a great kid’s book written by Nancy I. Sanders. Visit her blog at http://www.nancyisanders.wordpress.com. While there, be sure to join in on the last day of her contest to see if you can win a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble!
When you post your comment here on my blog today, I’ll put your name in a hat. (We’re going on an honor system here, so I trust you’re doing what you’re saying :o)
And as a bonus, I’ll put your name in the hat 5 extra times if you choose to follow my blog. (If you already follow this blog, post a comment here to let me know and I’ll put your name in the hat 5 extra times as well.)
Today’s the last day to help spread the word about my book and get your name in the hat. And then next Monday, here on my blog, I’ll post the name of the winner of the $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble. It could be you!!!!!
Shared this wonderful book and your blog with my facebook and twitter friends. Love it.
